Comprehensive Economic
Development Strategy

The CEDS Steering Committee was developed by the Preble County Commissioners and the Ohio State University Extension, Preble County Office.  Representing the various sectors of Preble County’s economy, a group of individuals were appointed by the Board of Commissioners and charged with the task of developing a comprehensive strategy for developing the economy in Preble County.  Their commitment and dedication to this project has enabled the development of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for Preble County.

It is hoped that the product of their efforts can be easily seen within the CEDS document.  Beginning in November 2002, the Steering Committee met on several different occasions to discuss the state of the Preble County community and its economy.  Local information as well as regional and state-level information sources have been tapped.  The most pertinent information to Preble County’s economic development can be viewed in the Analysis section. A statement describing the type of place Preble County will be in the future has been melded from the thoughts of Preble County residents and can be seen in the section titled Vision.  Different ways to address issues raised in the analysis that are in keeping with the vision for the future are outlined in the Action Plan section.  The Steering Committee recognizes that good plans are not static.  As such, the CEDS Steering Committee reminds the reader and user of this document that it should be updated on a regular basis.  More about evaluating progress and updating the document is detailed in the concluding section of the document entitled Evaluation.
